Continued job growth and an affordable cost of living compared to the rest of the nation creates an ideal atmosphere for employment and housing in Texas.

Texas continues to see strong job growth with more than 235,000 new jobs added since February 2007, a 2.3% increase. The 10-county Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) and the Dallas-Fort Worth MSA contributed to almost half of that with 156,900 new jobs added in the past year. The Austin, San Antonio and McAllen MSA’s also reported a 2-to-3% annual increase.

Nationally, job growth saw a less than 1 % increase since February 2007. Texas contributed to more than 29% of this increase, with Houston making up 10%.

This increased job growth, coupled with a strong economy and an affordable cost of living continues to make Texas an ideal place to live and work.
