Historic Richmond is a cozy city with a population of more than 12,000 people. Richmond provides small town charm while maintaining a close proximity to larger cities like Rosenberg and
Sugar Land. Richmond is the county seat for Fort Bend County and falls under the Lamar Consolidated Independent School District.
Rich with Texas history, Richmond is home to Morton Cemetery—resting place of some of the state's greatest icons including "Mother of Texas", Jane Long. Another great attraction is the George Ranch Historical Park where tradition reigns and roots run deep—as far back as 1824! This park sits on a 20,000 acre working ranch that contains historical homes and livestock to name a few. School and group tours are welcome here to get a firsthand look at life on a ranch.
Take a tour of the 1883 historic Moore Mansion and stop by for a refreshing cup of tea inside the Fort Bend Museum. Check in often to see what new exhibits are on display and learn more about living in the Victorian era. There are a ton of events to look forward to with the Fort Bend Museum including parties, historical tours, seasonal events, holiday affairs and classes that cover a range of topics. People are encouraged to take part and discover more about early life in Texas through school established field trips, walking tours, group activities and games, and gallery tours.
For culinary explorers, take advantage of local flavors at the original Sandy McGee’s Restaurant, enjoy fresh seafood at Pier 36 Seafood & Oyster Bar and explore southern favorites at places like M&M’s Soul & Creole Kitchen and Top Shelf Cajun Bar and Grill.
