Aubrey is located approximately 49 miles north of downtown Dallas and 53 miles northeast of downtown Fort Worth. Situated in Denton County, it has a population of nearly 3,400. Once known for the peanut farms that surrounded the town, Aubrey was officially established in 1867 when Civil War veteran Lemuel Noah Edwards built his first home there. After giving each of his 10 children a lot to build their own homes on, the Edwards family became a key element in the future development and planning of the city of Aubrey. Students who live in Aubrey attend Aubrey Independent School District.
