New Homes in The Colony Area

The Colony, known as the city by the lake, is one of the best kept secrets in the heart of North Texas. With lovely sights of the nearby lake, The Colony was named in the 50th Anniversary Sports Town of The United States in Sports Illustrated. The Colony is named after Peters Colony where its headquarters was located inside the current borderline of the city. The Colony is a recently established area and officially became a city in the late 1970s.

Best known for strikingly beautiful views of Lewisville Lake, The Colony extends 23 miles along its eastern shoreline. The first large scale bass fishing tournament took place on Lewisville Lake in 2005. A man named Kevin VanDam won the tournament and a check for $100,000 with his bass that hit a whopping 11 pounds and 13 ounces. Residents and visitors alike immerse themselves in hundreds of acres of wildlife surrounding Lewisville Lake every day as they enjoy a myriad of recreational opportunities including camping, fishing, swimming, boating, hiking, picnicking and cycling. Take a day trip to Lewisville Lake and see for yourself the beauty of the morning sun and the feel of crisp freshwater air.

The Colony is zoned to Lewisville Independent School District. Lewisville Independent School District contains forty-one elementary schools, fifteen middle schools, five 9th and 10th grade campuses and five high schools. The district also has eleven additional campuses that include places such as STEM Academy, Virtual Learning Academy, Environmental Learning (LISDOLA), Collegiate Academy and more.

Casual dining places include Emelia's Tex-Mex, Topp Subs, Heritage Pizza and Taproom, Hard Eight BBQ, TEN Ramen II, Chick-fil-A and so much more. Fine dining options are available just outside of The Colony including The Capital Grille, Jasper’s, Del Frisco’s Grille, Roy’s Restaurant and Bob's Steak & Chop House.
