The Design Consultation Process

If you are purchasing a new build home or one that is in the early stages of construction, you will receive two complimentary design sessions to personalize your new home from Perry Homes. Throughout your four hours of consultation— comprised of two 2-hour appointments — our team of design professionals will hand-select options to fit your budget without compromising style or luxury.

Your first appointment will begin in your Designer’s office, where you will review items like the foundation, plumbing and trim selections. They will walk you around our beautiful showroom to browse cabinets, countertops, flooring options and so much more to help you determine the basics of your home design. You will be given a price list and color selection sheet for the items you choose at the end of your meeting. Browse options such as:

  • Wood trim or stone mantel at the fireplace
  • Corner shower shelf or shower wall niche
  • GE monogrammed wine reserve or stainless steel mini-fridge
  • Barn doors for the library, game room, media room or master bath
  • Decorative stainless steel pyramid imperial hood vent
  • Built-in double wall oven

The second appointment will begin by confirming the selections you made during your first visit. Did you change your mind about the cabinet color you originally chose? Or maybe you want to swap that vanity you picked out for a different one? Now is the time to make those selections.

During this session, you will finalize all of the remaining features like plumbing, lighting fixtures and the front door. Electrical plans and options will also be reviewed if you are purchasing a new-build home. Once your selections are made, you will need to provide a check for payment of your selected upgrades.

What Should You Bring With You?

In order to get the most from your consultation, come prepared to your Perry Homes design appointment with photos of homes or styles that inspire you as well as furniture or items you want to incorporate into your new house. You are also more than welcome to browse our showroom between appointments to explore your options and find more inspiration for your new home.

Top Design Trends For 2020

If you are still in need of some inspiration for your custom-built home, take a look at some of the most popular interior design trends to help get you started:

  • Dark interior doors: An interior door that is rich in color adds warmth and character to any space. A dark door can provide an artistic element to the room when paired with the right hardware. Bold and classy, dark doors also add balance to heavier décor in the room while making ceilings appear taller.
  • Two-toned kitchens: The iconic white kitchens we have come to know and love will be slowly phased out in favor of two-toned kitchens. Black base cabinets with white upper units are becoming more common along with blending wood with color to add a bit of pop to a kitchen.
  • Retro and industrial light styles: Modern retro lighting creates a unique twist to any area. These designs are most popular in areas such as the kitchen work area, above the dining area or as an accent wall light source. Additionally, you could use the fixture itself as a piece of art on the wall or centerpiece in any room.
  • Multi-functional spaces: It has become a popular trend for homeowners to take back wasted space by transforming it into a multi-functional area, such as a home office. Closet storage, for example, can easily be combined with an office since both areas are typically concealed behind doors when not in use.
