Updating Your Bedroom

Updating Your Bedroom

With spring right around the corner, now is the perfect time to begin updating rooms in your home that have not been touched in a while. The average person spends over a third of their lives in their bedroom, so why not start there? Follow the suggestions below to create an up-to-date bedroom that will look fantastic.

Add Some Art

You would be surprised how much a special piece of art can change the look of an entire room. While there are many different options for wall art, there are simple rules to follow. First, consider the color scheme of your bedroom and choose a piece that fits in with this decor. It does not necessarily have to match the room completely, but it should not look out of place. Second, familiarize yourself with different types of art. Decide if you want a painting, a wooden piece, metal framing or any of the other kinds of work. Each type of art brings a different ambiance to the space. Third, make sure that the art you choose reflects your own unique flair and personal tastes. This is your room and you want it to make you feel peaceful and serene.

Consider an Accent Wall

If you would like to add bold flair to your room without dedicating yourself to coloring the entirety of your room, consider an accent wall. An accent wall is a single, strategically placed wall in a room that is painted a different color than the rest of the walls within the room. It allows you to create a striking look without overwhelming the design of the room as a whole. Upgrade Your Bedding

If you have not bought new bedding in a while, it may be time for an upgrade. This is especially true if you have done renovations or color changes in other parts of your bedroom. When buying new bedding, you will want to focus on comfort as well as aesthetic appeal. When buying sheets, consider the thread count, material and weave. A higher thread count will lead to softer sheets. Materials and weaves will create a difference in both softness level and overall appearance. After you have come to a decision on sheets, you will have to choose what you want the top layer of your bed to be. You can choose between comforters, duvets with covers, quilts and coverlets. Each option offers a different level of warmth, texture and all around comfort. Think about how you like to sleep and the temperature you prefer so that you can select the blankets that will help you have a good night’s rest. Be sure that whatever you choose matches your room as well!
