Perry Homes and Helping a Hero Break Ground on 12th New Home for Wounded Veterans

HOUSTON, TX - Recently, Perry Homes and Helping a Hero celebrated the start of construction on a specially designed home for a decorated wounded veteran, Corporal Frank Fields, and his growing family.

The family was escorted to the homesite by the local Patriot Riders and were greeted by fellow veterans, representatives from Perry Homes, Bass Pro Shops, Black Rifle Coffee, and baseball legend Roger Clemens.

"We're very proud to build this home that is perfectly suited for CPL. Fields' family," said Matthew Gerdes, Perry Homes Houston City President. "The four bedrooms allow for plenty of space for Frank and his family. The three-car garage provides Frank with additional space for storage or hobbies, as well."

12th Some construction modifications will include an adapted primary bathroom shower, wider hallways, ramps at all entry/exit points, and other safety features designed for CPL. Fields. The specialized Perry home is expected to be completed early Summer.

The groundbreaking ceremony for Fields and his fiance was in March 2023. Additional celebratory events will be planned for the Fields family in the coming months. The Welcome Home Ceremony will be held after the new home is complete and ready for move-in.

About U.S. Army Corporal Frank Fields

U.S. Corporal Frank Fields joined the army in 2006 and was deployed to Iraq, for eight months and completed over 100 missions prior to being struck by an IED.

Frank was a member of an infantry unit that conducted its missions during the night. Frank was a "transporter" which led him to deliver medical supplies, take captives to jails, and aid in helping wounded soldiers get rushed to the hospital.

On November 21, 2006, Frank and his unit were on a mission that took a turn for the worst. This route was known for being one of the heaviest-hit routes in Sauter City, Iraq. Frank was driving and was about 15 minutes into their mission when the inside of the vehicle was engulfed in fire. All three soldiers on this mission were now fighting for their lives. Frank jumped from the car and realized he had no legs to land on. His platoon sergeant saved him and dragged him away for the burning vehicle.

After his recovery, Frank began his journey of healing both mentally and physically. From the grief of the loss of his legs, and feeling lonely, Frank contemplated suicide. Fortunately, Frank decided there was so much to live for, and today he is a top motivational speaker in the wounded warrior community.

After meeting his finance Tawnee Gonzalez, widow of Marine Sergeant Marty Gonzales, Frank's life was forever changed. The two are expecting their first child in July.
