Located between Collin and
Denton Counties, Celina is split by State Highway 289, or as the locals call it, Preston Road. With approximately 6,000 people living in the city of Celina, it is largely made up of farm and ranch land.
Celina is a small town where Texas high school football rules. Students in this city attend Celina Independent School District. The Celina High School Bobcats have a UIL record of eight state titles and a 68-game winning streak. The Bobcats have also been featured in a documentary called The Power, Passion and Glory. Celina has an outstanding baseball team and won the state championship in 2002. Building upon the city of Celina’s fame, scenes from Kenny Chesney’s country hit “The Boys of Fall” were shot in Celina. Also from Celina is Major League Baseball pitcher Ryan Merritt who helped get his team, the Cleveland Indians, to the World Series in 2016.
